1965 Mustang K code Fastback GT 4 speed $75k

We have a 1965 K code Mustang GT that we are helping a customer sell.

This car has been meticulously restored in our shop and has had no expense spared. 47 miles have been put on this car since its restoration was completed .  The car is an original silver smoke grey car with black deluxe (pony) interior, full length console , factory kelsey hayes front disc brakes and rally pack. Other options include 4 speed transmission and 350 geared trac lok 9 inch rear end.

·         Body

The car was a relatively solid car to begin with. It has had partial front floor pans replaced, and lower rear quarter panels. It has Ford replacement front fenders and hood.  The car retains its original trunk lid and valances.

PPG primers, base coat and clear coat was used throughout the car. Care was taken to duplicate any and all overspray patterns the factory left . On the underside PPG DP74 red oxide primer was used to duplicate the factory red oxide we found on the underside of this car.

Front and rear bumpers are rechromed original ford units. The tail light bezels and GT emblems are NOS ford units  as is the fenderwell splash gaurds and door sill plates.  The Grille is the original ford GT piece , foglights are rechromed originals with reproduction but correct GE bulbs.

All glass is original to this car except the windshield which is a reproduction carlite tinted glass

·          Interior

The car is an original deluxe interior car with full console and rally pack .  it has a rechromed original gauge bezel with All NOS gauges . Original Am radio and a very nice original dash pad. Original upholstery was not ripped but buns where falling apart from the inside so we chose to rebuild the seats with new seat buns, and new black pony upholstery front and rear. Fold down rear seat is original to this car as well as all rear plastic interior panels original to this car.  The car also has a very nice original remote drivers mirror which is rare and an extremely hard to find set of original early 65 seat belts , Both original to this car. Carpet of course is new as is headliner and all weather stripping. Emergency brake handle is NOS replacement as is moldings and pads for clutch and brake pedals. All knobs switches etc on dash are original to this car and everything works as it should. Even has the original keys, well worn and obvious they came with the car.

 ·         Drivetrain

Engine- 65 k code block and heads . Block is an early 5 bolt block , aluminum 5 bolt bellhousing and toploader 4 speed.

Engine is balanced and blue printed to within an inch of its life. Has a lot of upgrades internally that of course cant be detected from the outside, just when you step on the pedal!. It has new .020 trw forged pistons with a true flattop design and chrome moly rings from hastings. It has a crane solid roller camshaft with slightly more lift and duration than the factory hipo cam. Don’t worry it sounds identical..nice chop and still get the solid clatter from the valve train but with much more reliability and more horsepower taking into account for todays oils which are zinc deficient and can be harsh on flat Tappet cams. Double roller timing chain and a high volume melling oil pump along with all clevite bearings round off the bottom end. Heads have been worked significantly . They have had larger stainless 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves added along with hardened seats and a 3 angle valve job. Intake and exhaust ports have been ported and gasket matched . New hardened pushrods were used along with guide plates and arp screw in studs . We also added Crane aluminum roller rocker arms . Has correct aluminum water pump, hipo fan and exhaust manifolds. Does not have correct hipo dual points distributor as we are still looking for a correct one.  Has rechromed original valve covers, and air cleaner with correct gold base.  Also in the engine bay is a NOS fan shroud and a correct and original to the car C4ZZ part numbered radiator for a 4 speed car (no trans cooler)…Try finding one of those!          Horsepower came in at 343hp 365lbft of torque.

Transmission has been gone through adding new gaskets and synchronizers as well as a new hurst shifter. Has a hayes oem replacement clutch kit with Timken throwout bearing.  Has a new driveshaft that has been built with spicer u joints, and clean steel tubing. We took and clear coated the shaft and added the correct paint stripes. This will give a correct bare metal look but wont rust! So it stays looking correct and clean. This shaft was built and balanced by the guys at Carolina driveline.

Rear axle is correct 9 inch with 350 gear set factory trac lok differential and correct hipo pinion support plate and snubber.

 ·         Wheels and tires

Wheels are scott drake reproduction styled steel wheels in factory 14 inch diameter size and offset. Tires are Bf Goodrich dual redline radials.

 ·         Exhaust

Has correct original hipo exhaust manifolds back to correct reproduction H pipe and then to correct Hipo dual exhaust mufflers over the rear end to dual resonators and then out the correct GT trumpet exhaust tips. All restored original clamps and hangers where used. No muffler shop junk on this car!

 ·         GT Equipment

Now for the most important part. This car retains all of its original GT finger prints such as , it has the correct dual exhaust reinforcement brackets in rear floor pans, it has the correct rear brake hose bracket placemnt for dual exhaust cars. Correct offset rear leaf spring bracket , original GT front grille with foglight brackets. It has correct placement foglight switch with correct wiring that will turn on tail lights when foglights are turned on . Correct foglight wire hole placement for power feed to foglights.

Now for one question im sure all have. The rocker molidings. We belive that this car was one of a few to get rocker moldings added to a GT by its original dealer. It had these when we found the car and they where definitely on the car a long time. After agonizing over it we decided to restore it this way as we fell this is how the original owner “bought “ it and because with this color combo we feel it looks better. Please remember this car is not built  to the point of being judged for points. It has been built to be a 99% correct driver with a few upgrades that could be easily reversed.

·         Misc Options

The car has Kelsey Hayes 4 Piston front disc brakes which are original to this car. We did upgrade the mastercylinder to a dual pot style for safety.

Trunk area has correct thick mat, and correct full size white wall spare with original jack and tire tool.

Correct Hipo manual choke cable NOS

This is a mechanically and visually NEW car and could be driven anywhere. Every mechanism, be it wiper motor, emergency brake or window regulators have been apart, repaired if need be cleaned lubed and reassembled so they work as new.  The underside of this car is as clean as the top side (see pics) every suspension part is individually detailed as is every brake part inside and out. Not many out there this clean.  Asking price is $75k  and if you have restored a car like this you know that is a bargain if you consider you don’t have to wait for it to be done. It is done! Please call us at 864 266 1189 ask for jack or email to jackhall@hallsresto.com   We will be handling appointments to view the car at our shop  for the owner at his request.  We are simply helping with the sale and will be able to put you in touch with the owner , we are not middle men in the sale, just helping our customer out with advertising and face to face viewing of the car.
